Message from Chair of Governors

July 2017

We are fast approaching summer holidays and this school year seems to have flown by really quickly. On behalf of all the Governors, I would like to thank Mrs Malbon and all the teaching and support staff who have once again worked so hard in delivering such positive results for this school year.

It has been a really eventful year and it was back in December that we received an Ofsted inspection. Christmas is not the easiest time for an Ofsted visit but I have to say our children rose to the occasion and passed with flying colours. The inspectors were clearly impressed with our children and the overall inspection agreed with our own evaluation that we are a good school.

During the past year, we have welcomed new governors onto our board. They have brought various talents to our team and are keen to get involved in all aspects of school life. It is so important to have a good mix of skills on our governing board and we are privileged to have expertise in such areas as education, business and finance.

The two key aspects of governance centre around School Improvement and Finance & Resources. Whilst these groups are a major part of school life, it is worth noting that governors take on additional responsibilities in areas such as Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Special Needs Support and Reading Support, to name just a few!

Our governors also attend termly review days where we spend a day in school doing learning walks and focusing on key areas of the school curriculum. I would assure all parents that the Viewley governors take their responsibilities extremely seriously and are committed to working with our Head Teacher and all staff in ensuring the ongoing success of our very special school.

In closing, I would draw your attention to our newly designed school website which I think looks really amazing. We have already had some positive feedback from people who have visited the site and like it’s fresh and inviting design.  The new strap line under our new school logo sums up what we are about…..

It all starts again in September!

Kind Regards

Ken Stone
