Spring Chickens

May 17, 2017
The time had come...  Reception put the eggs in the incubator, waited for four weeks...  And out popped four chicks!  It's the miracle of life.  Reception held a democratic vote to decide on names. Meet Woody, Ginger, Pie and Peas.  (They held the vote just after lunch)

Reception visit St Timothy’s Church at Easter

April 4, 2017
Easter time had come!  As well as the  chocolate eggs and the Easter Bunny, it was time to learn about church traditions during Lent and Easter, so Reception walked to St Timothy's Church.  Rev Desics showed them how to wear the vestments, how to play the organ and how to light the paschal candle.  Steady on!

New Police Headquarters

March 20, 2017
Everyone was very excited about the construction of the new Police Headquarters.  Pupils from Viewley Hill went along to see how it was getting on.  Once they were there they got stuck in with the spades and the digger!

Year 5 visit to the Botanical Gardens

March 15, 2017
Spring had sprung! Well, it certainly had for Year 5. Their new theme was 'Allotment' and to get them started they visited the Botanical Gardens in Durham. They had a great day exploring the gardens and investigating the different plants. They even made some new friends of the insect variety!

March 3, 2017
It was World Book Day.  We read books, recited poetry in the hall and of course... We all got dressed up!  Can you spot your favourite character from your favourite book?

Year 5 Stargazing Assembly

February 3, 2017
Year 5 were studying the topic of Star Gazers and we got to show off our new knowledge in a class assembly. We have been really interested and excited about this topic! Using card, tissue paper and lots of PVA glue we created our planets of the Solar System and the Sun. In our assembly we used food to compare the sizes of the planets and told everyone how far away we were from the Sun and Pluto (millions of miles). There were guest appearances from Neil Armstrong, Yuri Gagarin and Tim Peake! We also tried to convince our audience to live on Mars forever.

Y3 are a-maze-ing!

February 1, 2017
Year 3 were learning all about ancient Greek myths.  During their Maths and English lessons they were thinking about the labyrinth that the Minotaur lived in and they decided to have a go at building their own.  In history they examined photographs of the Palace of Knossos to find evidence that this was where the maze originally was.
