Year 2 build bridges

May 26, 2016
On Wednesday 11th May, Year 2 had a fabulous time with their parents building bridges. We were only allowed to use old newspapers and sticky tape. The bridge had to be strong enough to hold a weight. Mrs. Scott was the judge- it was very exciting. The winning team made a bridge so strong that Mrs. Clarke was able to sit on it without it breaking!

Year 6 learning

May 26, 2016
Year 6 have been busy.  They have been making clay skulls as part of out topic Hola Mexico. They looked at the Day of the Dead skulls and decided to do some of their own. They also had a mock parliament when learning about how to persuade. Some were in favour of moving SATs to July (the opposition), others wanted to leave them in May. (The Conservative party.) Not forgetting the trip to Clip 'n' Climb- the end of SATs treat.

Early Years visit Preston Park and Butterfly World

May 25, 2016
Early Years had been learning all about minibeasts and all about butterflies.  So where better to visit than Butterfly World!  The butterflies were amazing and the children learnt all about the creatures in their own environment.  But wasn't it was supposed to be sunny?

Year 4 Visit Barnard Castle

May 11, 2016
We visited Barnard castle as part of our current theme: 1066! We had been learning about Motte and Bailey castles and how they were used for attack and defence by the Norman's. We looked at where we would locate our own castle and explored the features at Barnard Castle.

Orienteering
On the 28th April we took part in the Middlesbrough schools fun orienteering competition. Nearly 900 children took part and worked in pairs to complete an orienteering course around Albert Park. We had learnt how to orienteer in our PE lessons and entered 10 Viewley pairs in the competition. We all finished the course in under 40 minutes!

Year 2 visit Barnard Castle

May 10, 2016
On Monday 25th April Year 2 visited Barnard Castle. It was very cold, but we learnt lots about how archaeologists work. We investigated different parts of the castle and 'guessed' what they might have been and how they may have been used.
We were worried about the two storey toilet!

New playtime kit

May 5, 2016
We got new kit!  Just in time for the sun to shine. Space hoppers, bats, table-top games, tin can alley, balls.  All of it came out, giving children chance to practice their skills and social interaction.  Because... who doesn't love a good Space Hop?
